Learning, presentation skills on display at Museum Day

Jillian Beckley offers her views on the value of Museum Day at New Morning School

Each year, our students — from preschool through middle school — select various topics and present information from that for annual Museum Day. This year, we continued the Sunday-afternoon tradition.

Museum Day also offers an opportunity for those curious about our school to see the efforts of our students in action.

Parents familiar with a Montessori system of education will notice many similarities in the New Morning School approach, which treats each student as an individual. Unique strengths and skills are recognized, creating a specialized, non-cookie cutter form of schooling.

Our method of education includes:

  • Hands-on activities.
  • Learning focused on creating mental models, not memorizing facts.
  • Multiple means of assessing learning.
  • Incorporating students’ prior knowledge into the curriculum.

If you were unable to join us for this event, you are encouraged to schedule a tour. It’s the best way to get the full New Morning School experience. Fill out the form below and we will get in touch with you shortly.
